Private Investment Funds and the family office
While Private Investment Funds have become more popular with institutions and investment managers, we've also been helping families and fiduciaries use them within family office and trust structures.
Providing the right managed and regulated structure
For family offices with up to 50 members, we use a Private Investment Fund (PIF) structure domiciled in the tax neutral jurisdiction of Guernsey to provide a regulated entity for assets. This is the hub of the family office portfolio and can be structured as a limited company, a limited partnership or a protected or incorporated cell company.
Private Investment Fund structure
Being regulated ensures transparency and governance standards for the benefit of all stakeholders. There is also the added benefit of being able to offer other families or investors the ability to "co-invest" in the fund and an institutionally recognised proven track record may also be built, which could lead to a more scalable investment management offering.
Elysium can serve in the role of Designated Administrator and also administers the Licensed Manager, both of which are required to be Guernsey entities. In addition to ongoing administration and reporting functions, we also manage the establishment of the structure and its entities, including seeking regulatory approvals for the PIF and licensing the Manager.
Comprehensive and secure nominee and custody services as well as provision of multi-currency cash accounts for the fund, can be undertaken by our partners at Liberum Wealth so that all cash, assets and investments may be held and administered in one place, including private company and alternative investments.
A separate Investment Adviser can be appointed and can be based elsewhere.
Elysium Fund Management and Liberum Wealth have teamed up to provide family offices and their advisers with a complete infrastructure solution. Our fully managed and cost effective service incorporates administration, accounting, reporting, company secretarial, custody and execution within a regulated structure, or you can select the services that are relevant to you.
